Skipathon Fund Raiser
Gosbecks Primary School held a Skipathon event to raise funds to buy a defibrillator for the school and local community. We had to reach a target of £1000 to buy the device. We feel very lucky to have had 2 very generous donations which helped us on our way to reaching our target. We would like to express our sincere thanks to:
Elementary UK, the supplier of our interactive View Boards within the school. Elementary UK work closely with the 'Hand on Heart' charity who will be supplying the Defibrillator very soon! They donated 50% of the cost and the school had to raise funds to match that.
Roy Tolley, Gosbecks Road, Colchester who have donated 25% of the cost as a local business close by who wished to support a local school and the community.
We raised the remaining 25% by holding a whole school Skipathon event and would like to thank our parents and carers who made donations on the day without which we would not have reached our target.
The children have learnt how important it is to be active and live a healthy lifestyle for a healthy heart. Many of the children couldn't skip before the event but had such fun learning to do something they couldn't do before. Even the staff stepped out of their comfort zone to join the children skipping. We were blessed with perfect weather conditions too. No Rain! Not too hot for all that exercise and laughter! We even had a lovely cake made by one of Mid Day supervisors - Thanks Tracey :-)
